I need to enter my Final Cut Pro serial number to a third party application (to convert a fcpxml file to a xml file), but since I purchased it on the app store, I don't have a serial number. I already tried looking in the ProApps folder, but there was nothing in it. Any suggestions on how to obtain a serial number or how to convert an fcpxml file into a xml one?
Yes, very well. But also, not quite. With Apple's 10.0.3 release of Final Cut Pro X, they added multicam support and a host of other features, but more importantly for some, they finally made it possible to move projects from Final Cut Pro 7 to Final Cut Pro X. Well, that's not quite true. Apple didn't actually make this possible - they are promoting the product of a 3rd party, Intelligent Design, to facilitate upgrading old projects. Here's a quick overview of the process:

As I looked around in FCPX I found all my master clips, quite a few Compound Clips that represented my sequences from FCP7 (in an event called FCP7 Sequences) as well as new to 10.0.3 Multicamera Clips. I then opened up my final timeline by editing the Compound Clip into a timeline and choosing Break Apart Clip Items. 2ff7e9595c
