I have a Konica Minolta C658 in our mail room that is network-connected to a printer server. When I access the printer preferences on my main workstation, I can access it just fine and enter in Account track credentials. On a number of users, I have noticed that when I go to access the preferences page, Windows explorer crashes and I receive a few errors, depending on how I accessed preferences and what workstation I was using:"Printer Settings User Interface has stopped working" on workstations"Function Discovery Print Provider Dll has stopped working" on Server 2008 R2Sometimes it will just escape out of the printer utility page and the devices and printers page, Windows explorer will flash, and then explorer will restart.I have tried restarting the server, inserting a new driver onto the printer, and restarted all machines affected.I can ping the printer from the workstations, and can even access printer properties, as well as see how much paper is in the printer.I'm currently on a service call with them, but as you can see, I can type this entire thread out before I even get a response from someone.

Had a talk with our vendor representative and we came up with a fix:On the printer server, I only updated the current driver in question by downloading a new driver from the site and replacing the old one. Most recent driver actually disabled the preferences for my own workstation after attempting this.We then decided to roll back the driver to the original driver that was installed when we purchased the device (Mid December 2017, so still fairly recent)After this, the preferences tab came back!I'm thinking it was a corrupt driver installation that needed to be replaced. Not sure why the newest driver wouldn't work, however.I've tried setting preferences on other computers in the office and so far it seems to be working again. The only downside to this is that I need to update everyone's driver in the office now. :/

The FDPHOST service hosts the Function Discovery (FD) network discovery providers. These FD providers supply network discovery services for the Simple Services Discovery Protocol (SSDP) and Web Services - Discovery (WS-D) protocol. Stopping or disabling the FDPHOST service will disable network discovery for these protocols when using FD. When this service is unavailable, network services using FD and relying on these discovery protocols will be unable to find network devices or resources.

We don't advise to download the fdprint.dll file and copy it to the Windows system directory. The software's creators almost never circulate the DLL files, they are always part of an installation set. It's the installation set's task to perform the sufficient verifications before the installation. An incorrectly installed DLL file may cause the system's complete inability to function.

The Regsvr32 tool is a command-line utility that can be used for registering and un-registering OLE controls like DLL and ActiveX (OCX) controls in the Windows operating system. If you find that some of your Windows functions are not working properly, you may need to register your dll files.

I found a registry entry for my WSD port under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Print\Monitors\WSD Port\Ports. There was a key named the same as the port. Once the offending key was deleted, the printer stopped auto-assigning itself to that port.

This rule detects the use of discovery-related Windows API functions in PowerShell Scripts. Attackers can use these functions to perform various situational awareness related activities, like enumerating users, shares, sessions, domain trusts, groups, etc.

Ingress settings restrict whether an HTTP function can be invoked by resourcesoutside of your Google Cloud project or VPC Service Controls service perimeter. When the "allow internal traffic only" setting for ingress networking isconfigured, this error message indicates that only requests from VPC networks inthe same project or VPC Service Controls perimeter are allowed.

A discovery log is written that contains details about the user who stopped it and the time when it was stopped. This discovery log can be accessed by a link in the Discovery Preview pane. These details are also written in the central CACPMScanner.log file in the PasswordManager\Logs folder.

Since I upgraded VDA from 2009 to 2012, direct ICA file (old fashion connection) stopped working for users.it is still working for for users with admin privileges but for standard users, it is not working anymore.

The original authors of libFuzzer have stopped active work on it and switchedto working on another fuzzing engine, Centipede. LibFuzzer is still fullysupported in that important bugs will get fixed. However, please do not expectmajor new features or code reviews, other than for bug fixes.

cups-browsed sometimes loses connection to print server (usually with old ones, like cups-1.4.2) when laptop changes network connection (change of WiFi network or after hibernate/suspend). You can make printing working again with cancelling your jobs and restarting cups-browsed by

When your printer needs a lot of time to do printing (from your POV) or doesn't print at all (some Xerox printers have such problems with gs renderer, so they are working again only with pdftops renderer), you can try to change the default postscript renderer. The default renderer in Fedora for most printers is gs filter from Ghostscript, but we have pdftops filter from Poppler for Brother, Minolta and Konica Minolta printers - this setup is called hybrid.

Driverless printing has its variant for devices which are connected via USB - it is covered by 'IPP over USB' standard. For make it work, you need 'ipp-usb' package, which will register the device with Avahi on localhost - then USB device will look as a wireless/ethernet device. The discovery/printing looks the same as with a wireless/ethernet device with driverless support. 2ff7e9595c
